Meet Jordan Bobbitt

Who are my Clients?

I work with those who are entering adolescence or early adulthood - many of which have experienced complex traumatic events. Though we all may conjure up different meanings and images of what trauma is, I am here to listen and work through anything that disrupted the life you were having OR thought you would have for yourself.

My clients often present with concerns pertaining to:

  • Unmet expectations from family, friends, or relationships

  • Not wanting to repeat cycles and patterns from our family of origin

  • Trying to be a kid while grappling with the impact of recent federal and state law changes

  • Residual stress from sexual trauma

  • Domestic or intimate partner violence

  • Identity exploration

  • Unexpected birthing or infertility issues

I recognize making the decision to talk to someone about the worst moments of your life can be a tough one. It’s common and makes sense that you would want to avoid it at all costs. That’s why I commit to the following:

  • We will establish safety before jumping into the darker parts of it all

  • I will help you put words and insights to your triggers

  • I will guide you to see your brain/body connection so that you can stop ignoring the signs your body is giving you

Areas of Focus

Empowering Adolescents

To the adolescents I serve:

I want to make it clear that you are young, but you are human. Your session with me is your time, and your opinions matter. Together, we will make sense of what you are going through and the feelings you have because of it. A lot of what you are going through may be out of your control, but together, we can identify how you can use the strengths you already have to get through it and cultivate a life that is worth living…to you.

A note to the parents:

As your child’s therapist, my aim is to include you in your child’s treatment in a way that (re)establishes a sense of trust and emotionally safety - not just with me, but the child’s community of support as a whole. Your involvement in your child’s progress will often require you to have homework and points of reflection. All of this will be for the sake of getting at the root of what your child and family is experiencing and elevating your functioning as a unit.

More about Jordan

My Approach

Individuals who have experienced complex traumatic events are among the focus of my clinical practice. With that said, regardless of your identification with these groups, I aim to serve a variety of emotional and behavioral health needs, in a way that is specifically tailored to you. As a gender and identity-affirming therapist, who has experience with resource allocation, therapeutic processing, and advocacy for affirmative care- my top priority is your safety and comfort in session together and within your external systems (i.e., family, school, healthcare, etc.). Regardless of your identity or past, my continuous aim is to serve as a non-judgmental and empathetic space that both encourages, and at times maintains accountability, so that you are able to reach your desired outcome.

Through an integrative approach, I often utilize techniques and interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems and more. While this may feel a bit clinical, the humanistic part of my approach is rooted in transparency and honesty. While I hold hope that any previous therapeutic experiences have been nothing but amazing; however, if it has been anything but amazing- your hesitation and hurt is valid. I hope that through collaboration together, we are able to further validate your previous experiences while crafting a new perspective of what therapy can feel like. If this is your first time seeking mental health support, your nerves and curiosity are welcomed. Here lies an opportunity to create a space that meets your emotional/ behavioral health needs, honors your trust, and allows for you to explore and deepen your connection with yourself, and others, regardless of the path that has brought you here.

Why I Love This Field

As your provider, I am given the privilege of walking alongside you during some of your highest highs, lowest lows, and many moments in between. This field allows for me to fulfill the special role of being an individual in your story, who you are willing to trust. This trust is one of the most important gifts that I want to protect and honor throughout the therapeutic process. In our everyday lives, we often interact with the world without much thought or reflection. In therapy, we have the opportunity to safely explore and challenge how we interact with the world and systems in our lives. Why I love this field is because the opportunity to reflect, grow, and work on yourself is in your hands, with my support. It is truly such an honor to be able to be a supporting character in the chapters of your life story and I cannot wait to explore where your journey leads you!

My Background

A background of clinical social work often lends itself to developing a provider who serves as a therapist, case manager, advocate, resource gatherer, and more. The experiences which first led me on this journey began at The University of California- Davis, where I was awarded a B.S. in Human Development with two minors in Education and Religious Studies. Deeply understanding the biological, psychological, and social components of the human lifespan; how it is impacted by an individual set of beliefs; and how to share this information in a digestible way is essential to the work that I do. To strengthen these skill sets, I attended The University of Pennsylvania where I was awarded an Master of Social Work (MSW), with a Clinical Concentration; however, my skills would not be as well-rounded without my experiences in the field as an adolescent case manager, support group facilitator, mental health advocate, and outpatient therapist.
