supPORT for Future Helpers

Free Online Group for Grad Students in the Mental Health Field

Come join a group of grad school students who are wondering ‘What happens next?’. Whether you are thinking about going into the community, taking a gap year, pursuing private practice, or you have no idea at all- this is the place for you. This group will encourage peer supPORT, self-empowerment, and self- advocacy among a small group of grad students who are preparing for the next big step after graduation.

At times, we may get caught up with other people’s hopes and expectations, especially the hopes and expectations of people we look up to. At times, taking a different path than you planned or expected feels really scary. At times, it may still feel scary even when everything works out just the way you planned. If you are interested in navigating these experiences side by side with professional peers, who are outside your current network or support system, you have come to the right place.

Save Your Spot!

Our first group will take place October 7th @ 10am EST

We look forward to cultivating a supPORTive environment with you and contribute to your success as you transition from student to professional!

  • Self-Discovery

The self-discovery aspect of the group will allow for you to get a better sense of how you will fit into the world of mental health. You will have the space to explore the possible career paths you can take, and receive guidance on how to position yourself for it upon graduation.

  • Self-Care

A huge part of being able to teach your prospective clients about managing their mental health through self-care is for you to develop a practice of your own. Lean how to create the balance you need NOW, as a student. That way, you are more likely to have a foundation of self-care in place as you enter the professional work space.

  • Self-Empowerment

The ultimate goal of our work with grad students is to empower. We not only want you to feel empowered by us, but most importantly, yourself. As a result of participating in this group, you will overcome limiting beliefs and feel the confidence to carve your own path so that you can serve in the way only you can.

Who this group is for

This group is best suited for those who are:

  • Nervous about their pending graduation and what life after being a student entails

  • Clear about wanting to help people, but just unclear about how

  • Uncertain how to navigate all the rules to execute the vision they have for themselves

  • Feeling unprepared and imposter-like

  • Questioning whether they can make a meaningful impact while also building a sustainable income

This group may not be a good fit for those who are:

  • Clinicians seeking supervision hours

  • Not enrolled in a master’s program for mental health

As a recent MSW graduate, LMSW licensee, and dual private practice provider- my aim is to facilitate a space for graduate students to connect with their pre-professional peers who are willing to explore personal and professional curiosities, hesitations, hopes, and dreams as they enter into the counselling profession.
