What to do between Sessions?

It is important to us to help contribute to the growth of the clients we serve between sessions. This allows you to:

  • Continue to process what came up in session

  • Reinforce a concept introduced to you in session

  • Heal at a more rapid pace if you choose

If you select a book off this list, or a book of your own, we invite you to share any insights that may come up with your therapist. Reading, podcasts, and other things you are exposed to are great for helping connect the dots that lead to a resolution of what bought you to therapy.

Anxiety

The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion is helpful for the person who wants to incorporate mindfulness as a daily practice of managing anxious thoughts and feelings. Germer walks you through the process of becoming more aware of your experience of anxiety and effectively changing that experience with acceptance and a “non-judgemental awareness”.

There’s also a workbook if that’s more your thing.

Hey Sis, is an anxiety journal for women on how to release the stress of being all the things for everyone else and not prioritizing yourself. If you are someone who knows you need to shift unhelpful thinking patterns and habits that keep you from caring for yourself as you need, this 40 day journal may be just the thing to get you out of your own way.

Body Image & Eating Disorders

Jenni Schaefer books offer helpful insight in how literally break up with your eating disorder. Life Without Ed & Goodbye Ed, Hello Me are easy to read and often leave’s it’s readers feeling less alone and understood in their own journey.

The Anti-Diet is a MUST read if you struggle with diet culture and need to challenge falsehoods about what makes one healthy. Author, Christy Harrison, is also a good account to follow follow on social media for continued education.
